About the eZine

So you want a computer but you can't afford the $1000 or more that it takes to buy one.  You have heard of people building their own but you feel uneasy about it.  Well this on going series of articles just may be for you.

This eZine is an ongoing series of articles that will show you, step by step, how to build your basic computer.  We will feature a different piece of hardware each week and explain how to install it.  Once we are done we will have a fully working, internet ready PC.

We will start with the case and motherboard and then we will move on to installing hardware and peripherals on the motherboard.  Next well install the drives and then move on to the first boot.  After that we will explain, in detail, how to install an operating system on a fresh hard drive.

We hope that this series will be helpful and informative and bring you many hours of enjoyment building your new PC.

Notes

In this series we will be giving instructions for building a PC Compatible Pentium class computer.  These instructions will apply to almost every manufacturer (Intel, AMD, Cyrix) and almost every chipset (Pentium II, Pentium III, AMD K6-2, Duron, K-7, etc.).  This series is not for Macintosh computers, so sorry.
